Carp (Rasbora) is a freshwater fish with a streamlined body and a silver or gold color. They are peaceful and active swimmers, making them great additions to community tanks.

Mosquitorasboras can grow to a maximum size of 3 cm in the aquarium. A nano-basin with an edge length of at least 30 cm is absolutely sufficient for the species-appropriate keeping and care of the tiny ones. The aquarium should not be too bright. Observations have shown that the Boraras brigittae feel very comfortable in densely planted aquariums with black water.
Mosquitorasboras are peaceful and sociable people. The freshwater fish can easily be kept in a group or in a school. It is also possible to socialize with other mini fish or shrimp.
Boraras brigittae do not make any special demands on the prevailing water parameters in the pool. The freshwater fish feel themselves in water temperatures between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius.

These are my boraras naevus aka strawberry rasbora they came in with a batch of boraras maculatus (aka three spot rasboras). I had separated them into the old sparkling gourami tank to hang out with the betta albimarginata female and some of her larger fry.
I would say strawberries are the most beautiful of the dwarf rasboras I have kept (I am still trying to track down boraras urophthalmoides (aka exclamation point rasbora aka least rasbora aka sparrow rasbora) I like there subtler look and oranger colouration as well as their slightly smaller size beating out the oh so popular chili rasboras. I have found naevus to have way more colour and pop than the chilis (boraras brigittae aka chill rasbora aka mosquito rasbora) I have kept in the past.
Boraras micros (aka three-spotted dwarf minnow/rasbora aka micro rasbora) has also been on my list as it is even smaller and has cute little spots and a yellowy tone—if you haven’t noticed I do enjoy yellow—but I have never seen them available.

The orange hues to the male Somphong’s rasboras are improving day by day.
If like me you are fascinated by this species, an article by ri.arw all about how he went and found them in a rice field in Thailand will be in the February issue of practicalfishkeeping which is on sale on the 16th of January!! I now really want to move these to a larger tank and create a biotope for them moving my sparkling gourami across to join them but since they have just started spawning (see previous post) I definitely think I’ll leave them where they are for a little while longer!
